Management of giant presacral schwannoma. Clinical series and literature review

Presacral schwannomas are rare tumors. Due to their benign nature and slow growth, these tumors often giant become difficult treat. Their removal is a surgical challenge with different strategies reported in the literature. This study presents consecutives cases of presacral operated on our institution, strategy literature review. retrospective includes all consecutive patients for pre-sacral schwannoma department between 2006 2019, i.e. 6 patients. We report clinical features, pre post-operative imaging, data outcomes. All had symptoms before surgery (constipation, dysuria, radicular or lower back pain) an average duration 7.4 months. underwent MRI CT scan surgery. Five type III according Klimo classification one patient II. The size was 504,9 cm3 (range 53,1-1495,4). were by anterior approach double team mean 246 min. Intraoperative bleeding less than 500 ml 4 patients, 2 significant (2700 2900 mL). Excision total subtotal cases. One intraoperative complication (air embolism). Follow up at 3 months excellent disappearance except who retained constipation. late (bowel obstruction due tissue adhesions). At last follow-up after phone interview, no that could suggest recurrence. great option treatment schwannoma. Combined adequate preoperative imaging stimulation, it reduces risk intra postoperative complications.
